DR. AJI SULARSO

HEAD OF ADVISORY BOARD

His experience and expertise in the field of Marine and Fisheries were integral in the establishment of Bawah Reserve. In the early stages, the resort asked Dr. Aji Sularso to become a consultant for the eco-friendly resort on Pulau Bawah which is located in the south of the Anambas Islands before asking him to join as one of the directors.

Having the same vision with the owner who believed that the waters and forest areas in Anambas must be preserved, they saw that ecotourism could thrive in this area. Many people nowadays are eager to visit unspoiled locations that offer authentic experiences.

“Green practices are very important to be implemented in the hotel industry today, because the vision of society has changed. Looking for a vacation spot that is still preserved, even those that have not been touched and haven’t been visited by many people, has now become a lifestyle – and this can only be realized by applying the concept of ecotourism, “said retired Navy who has held a number of important positions in the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fishery.

The concept of ecotourism is being implemented by Bawah Reserve and the resort is also proud to support the Anambas Foundation.

Sularso further said that the foundation needs to increase public awareness about protecting the environment through socialization and campaigning as well as education and providing alternative livelihoods for the locals.

“The local government, both at the provincial and district levels, has expressed full support for the efforts that will be made by the Anambas Foundation, but they must also be actively involved in making concrete programs that will have a direct impact on the community,” told Sularso.
